MOUNDS VIEW PLANNING COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 666-01 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT <br />TO ALLOW FOR A 1,218 SQUARE-FOOT OVERSIZED GARAGE AT 8368 <br />GROVELAND ROAD; MOUNDS VTEW PLANNING CASE NO. CU01-003 <br />WHEREAS, Jack Clasen has applied for a conditional use permit to construct an addition <br />to an existing garage that would tota11,218 square feet on his property located at 83b8 Groveland <br />Road, which is legally described as follows: <br />Except west 241. 6 feet; the south 75 feet of Lot 42 <br />Auditor's Subdivisio� No. 89 <br />Ramsey County, Minnesota <br />WHEREAS, The Mounds View Zoning Code conditionally allows garages in excess of <br />952 square feet in area with a maximum accessory building area not to exceed 1,400 square feet; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed the following documents regarding -- <br />this proposal: <br />a. Development Application <br />b. Zoning Map <br />c. Location Map <br />d. Proposed Site Plan <br />e. Staff Report <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Planning Commission finds that the proposal satisfies the <br />dimensional requirements as outlined in Chapters 1104 and 1106 the Zoning Code; and, <br />WI3EREAS,�the Mounds View Planning Commission finds that the request is consistent with <br />the Mounds View Comprehensive Plan in that the Comprehensive Plan encourages the development <br />and rnaintenance of residential areas so as to improve the quality, appearance and attraciiveness of <br />housing units and residential properiy in generaI; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Planning Commission f nds that the proposed garage would <br />not be out of place given the character and geography of the surrounding area involved in that other <br />homes in the area have similar sized garages and that there is sufficient room on the subject property <br />to accommodate such a struciure; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Planning Commission finds that the proposed garage would _ <br />not depreciate the neighborhood in that the proposed garage would replace an older, functionally <br />obsolete garage; and, <br />
