He
advertises in the Music st Dance News, which is the Minnesota Bal(room Operators Association Newsletter.
The issues come out in two month periods of which the next issue covers ]une and, )uly and the deadline for
advertising is this week. Tony will be advertising events scheduled for June and would be wilting to arrange a
simple schedule for ]uly if the EDA desires to hold events to help cover ucilities while planning is being
done. There are weekly events, such as the Seniors Singles dance on Thursday evening that would be an
easy revenue source for the EDA. In addition, he can schedule "Gentleman ]im" a county DJ for Friday
nights which draws a good crowd and would help cover utilities. Tony said that he and the staff are willing to
stay on as long as the Ciry needs them for these events. We can have Bob Long draw up an agreement for a
period of time between the EDA and Mr. Jambor for running the operation.
Two Questions:
Does the EDA want to continue to have regular events at the Bel-Rae, at least through July, until agreemenrs
and plans can be put together for a community center/sports facility? If yes, then Tony can include a
schedule for ]uly in the next issue of Music 8i Dance News and staff can bring back more detail on
arrangements with Tony and his staff at the ]une work session.
If yes, the EDA wou(d need to get a beer, wine and set up license beginning July 1, 1996. Our insurance
premium would increase by $241 per month. Public hearings for liquor ficenses will be set at the May 28th
meeting.
athy Benn t, Economic Development Coordinator\
EDA Executive Director
RECONt•IENDTION:
Staff recommends that the EDA make a motion to continue operations of the Bel-Rae Ballroom through Ju(y
and direct staff to bring back a proposal for EDA consideration regarding costs\revenue for July events and
