RESOLUTION NO. 7920 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AND APPROVING THE ALLOCATION OF THE <br />TWIN CITIES GATEWAY 2012 COMMUNITY FESTIVALS AND EVENTS GRANT <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View is a member of the local Convention and Tourism <br />Bureau, Twin Cities Gateway; and <br />WHEREAS, The City of Mounds View has enacted a tax on lodging within the City to <br />help fund Twin Cities Gateway, along with eight other member cities, in accordance with <br />Minnesota Statutes Section 469.190; and <br />WHEREAS, Twin Cities Gateway's Community Festivals and Events grant program <br />provides each member city with an annual grant based on the percentage of lodging taxes <br />collected from the prior year; and <br />WHEREAS, upon the City of Mounds View's written request to Twin Cities Gateway, <br />the City of Mounds View will receive $4,400.00 in Community Festivals and Events grant <br />funding in 2012; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View is responsible to allocate and disperse the grant <br />funds to community festival(s) and/or event (s) that the City wants to endorse or support; and <br />WHEREAS, Community Festivals and Events grant funds shall be used for marketing <br />and promotional efforts to increase attendance at community festival(s) and/or event(s) <br />located in Mounds View; and <br />WHEREAS, Mounds View's annual celebration, Festival in the Park, and the MN Street <br />Rod Association's Back to the 50s registration event will draw thousands of tourists to Mounds <br />View in the Summer of 2012. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mounds View City Council does <br />hereby accept and allocate its 2012 Twin Cities Gateway Community Festivals and Events <br />Grant funds in the amount of $2,200 for the marketing and promotion of the MN Street Rod <br />Association's 2012 Back to the 50s activities in Mounds View and to the Mounds View <br />Festival in the Park Committee in the amount of $2,200 for the marketing and promotion of <br />the 2012 Festival in the Park celebration. <br />Adopted this 9th day of April, 2012 <br />et/ <br />e Flaherty, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />��'�� � <br />James Ericson, City Administrator <br />(�ea!). <br />
