RESOLUTION 7937 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />ACCEPTING COMMUNITY FOREST BONDING GRANT FROM MINNESOTA <br />DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES <br />WHEREAS, in 2011, an infestation of Emerald Ash Borer was discovered in <br />Shoreview less than one mile from the City of Mounds View corporate limits; and <br />WHEREAS, a Community Forest Bonding Grant application was prepared by <br />City staff and approved by Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for $42,000 to <br />remove ash trees and replace with native trees on public lands within a one mile radius <br />of the known infestation during 2012 through 2014 funding cycle; and <br />WHEREAS, approximately 40% of Mounds View ash population on public lands <br />are located within the one mile radius, and removing and replacing the infested and <br />lower quality ash will slow the spread of emerald ash borer throughout the city. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources 2012-2014 Community Forest <br />Bonding Grant of $42,000 for tree removal and replanting for diversity is hereby <br />accepted by the City. <br />2. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed for and on <br />behalf of the City to execute and enter into said grant agreement with the Minnesota <br />Department of Natural Resources. <br />3.
