<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />." <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4472 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR BOARD OF GOVERNMENT <br />INNOVATION AND COOPERATION GRANT; COOPERATION PLANNING GRANT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, THE 1993 Minnesota State Legislature approved a $1.2 million <br />grant fund for local units of government to plan and implement cooperative and <br />service sharing projects; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the money will be awarded to the most innovative proposals; <br />those that cannot be addressed locally because of some of the special and <br />excessive costs to plan a cooperative arrangement or provide a prototype for <br />other governments to follow institute comparable changes; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since about 1991 the cities of New Brighton, Mounds View, <br />Fridley, Shoreview, Arden Hills, and St. Anthony have talked about sharing <br />building inspection services because each city has a difficult time matching its <br />level of staffing to swings in the level of remodeling and construction projects; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, New Brighton has been able to examine remodeling and <br />construction trends for all of the aforementioned cities over the last 5 years, <br />researched other joint power agreements, and examined potential staffing needs <br />fora shred building inspection service; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is time to refine the plan, and find out if there is commitment <br />to implement a shared building inspection service; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Mounds View authorizes staff to participate with the City of New Brighton, and <br />support their efforts to apply for a $25,000 cooperation planning' grant for the <br />purpose of assessing the feasibility of shared building inspection services. <br /> <br />Adopted this 27 day of December, 1993. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />(SEAL) <br />
