I
RESIDENTIAL DEM06RAPHICS
Respondents were asked a series of demographic questions in
order to first, establish a community profile, and second, to
Iidentify large subgroups within the city which might exhibit
different behavior from their peerso The composite also permits
Icomparison of the sample with the actual census s atistics on the
eommunity and validation of the sample. This section will discuss
the community at large, with attention to both the past growth
patterns of Mounds View as well as speculations
about its future.
By comparing ihe current composition of the city's citizenry with
l
potential future trends, extrapolations about policy demands can
I be systematically deduced.
Residential Lonqev_itY:
I
Residents were first asked:
Approxsinately Mioa lor9g ave you lived
i n Maurndl s'V i ea?
About one-third of the sample reported moving to Mounds View
i
during the past two years:
LESS THAN TWD YEARS.......so............
14%
Z -- 5 YEARS ...............................
21%
6 -- 10 YEARS .................o............
15%
o ..........................
29Y.
11 20 YEARS.
21 30 YEAR5.
12'
OVER THIRTY YEARS ..........................
9%
DON'T KNOW/REFUSED .........................
0%
A little over one-fifth had resided in the city for over twenty
years. Median longevity was about 10.5 years. Although not
experiencing the population changeover of many other areas,
4 Mounds View has certainly not stagnated as have many inner ring
suburbs.
