When assigned to the Streets and Stormwater(Streets) subdivisions:
<br /> • Perform and participate in asphalt pavement maintenance and repairs to streets, trails, and parking
<br /> lots involving pothole patching, overlays, crack filling, fog sealing, and new construction. Assist in
<br /> concrete maintenance and repairs to curbing and sidewalks involving cleaning, removal and
<br /> replacement, crack repairs, joint rehabilitation, and new construction.
<br /> • Perform plant and turf maintenance and landscape duties in street and trail rights-of-way including
<br /> mowing and edging, rough cutting, pulling weeds, raking, seeding and sodding, mulching, watering
<br /> plants and trees, sweeping, trimming trees and shrubs, and clearing fallen trees, brush, and debris.
<br /> • Participate in maintenance and repairs to stormwater ponds, ditches, structures, and pipes
<br /> including cleaning, rough cutting, pulling weeds and non-native vegetation, removing and placing
<br /> riprap, grading and reseeding, sediment removal, and removing trees, brush, and litter.
<br /> • Assist with traffic control activities including replacing traffic signs and posts, painting pavement
<br /> markings, and installing and removing temporary traffic control devices.
<br /> When assigned to the Drinking Water and Wastewater (Utilities) subdivisions:
<br /> • Assist with maintaining, cleaning, inspecting, and repairing sanitary sewer pipes, manholes, lift
<br /> stations, force mains, pumps, and equipment associated with the wastewater collection system.
<br /> • Assist with maintaining and repairing the drinking water system components including flushing
<br /> hydrants, reading and replacing water meters, and turning gate valves.
<br /> • Assist with other utility-related activities including utility locates, inspections, as-built records,
<br /> inflow/infiltration investigations, painting, repairing fences, landscaping, and grounds maintenance.
<br /> OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
<br /> • Run various errands including picking up parts and supplies, transporting vehicles and equipment,
<br /> delivering handouts and notices, fueling vehicles, and other miscellaneous chores.
<br /> • Participate in clean-up and debris removal after significant storm events.
<br /> • Perform special projects as assigned.
<br /> • Performs other duties and responsibilities as apparent or assigned by the Public Works Supervisor.
<br /> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<br /> • Must be at least 18 years old by first day of employment.
<br /> Education:
<br /> • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read, write, and compute at a
<br /> level necessary for successful job performance. High School Diploma or GED is desirable.
<br /> Experience:
<br /> • No experience required.
<br /> Licenses and Certificates:
<br /> • Possession of a valid Minnesota driver's license.
<br /> NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
<br /> Knowledge of:
<br /> • General principles and practices of maintenance in assigned subdivision.
<br /> • Care and operation of a variety of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
<br /> • Safe work practices.
