<br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4744 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE POLICE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION TO BEGIN THE <br />HIRING PROCESS FOR ONE POLICE OFFICER AS A RESULT OF THE AWARD OF THE COP <br />FAST GRANT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Congress passed the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the intent of this Act was to place 100,000 new police officers on the streets of <br />America to create a safer environment for the American public; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Justice has made available grant monies as a result of this <br />Act; and <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View applied for and was awarded a COP FAST Grant; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Grant will contribute up to $75,000 of an officer's salary and benefits over a <br />three year period; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the officer hired will encourage the development and expand the current <br />community oriented policing services. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council in and for the City of Mounds <br />View does hereby authorize the Police Civil Service Commission to begin the hiring process of one <br />police officer as a result of the monies received from the COP FAST Grant. <br /> <br />(SEAL) <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />. <br />
