CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> OFFICE OF THE MAYOR <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> WHEREAS, Arbor Day was first observed in 1872 with the planting of more than a million <br /> trees in Nebraska and is now observed throughout the nation and the world; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View has been recognized for 30 consecutive years as a <br /> Tree City USA Community by the National Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to <br /> urban forestry; and <br /> WHEREAS, trees in our city beautify our surroundings, increase property values, shade <br /> our parks and residences, reduce storm water runoff, reduce energy use, enhance the <br /> economic vitality of business areas and promote healthier communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City will be planting shade trees in Silver View Park with members of the <br /> Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department on April 25th, 2013. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joe Flaherty, Mayor of the City of Mounds View, do hereby <br /> proclaim Thursday, April 25th, 2013 as <br /> "ARBOR DAY" <br /> in the City of Mounds View, and I urge all citizens to celebrate Arbor Day and to support <br /> efforts to protect our trees and woodlands; and <br /> FURTHER, I urge all citizens to plant trees to promote the well-being of this and future <br /> generations. <br /> Given under my hand and Seal of the City of Mounds View, this 22nd day of April, 2013. <br /> (SEAL) <br /> Joe laherty, Mayor <br />
