<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4766 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OFFICIALLY WITHDRAWING CITY SUPPORT FOR AND <br />INVOLVEMENT IN THE REGIONAL SENIOR CENTER PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the four cities of Mounds View, Fridley, Spring Lake <br />Park and New Brighton began the exploration of a Regional Senior <br />Center several years ago; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the project was to build a joint <br />facility to be used by senior residents from the four communities <br />thereby responding to a growing need expressed by area senior <br />residents; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a Regional Senior Center Task Force, consisting of <br />representatives from the four cities, charged with studying the <br />proposal to determine the feasibility, cost and site; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on April 8, 1992, the Regional Senior Center Task <br />Force approved the Rice Creek Plaza as the secondary site after the <br />Metropolitan Council refused to consider the primary site in the <br />Locke Lake Regional Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it does not appear that the Rice Creek Plaza site <br />will be available in the immediate future; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the city of Fridley has formally notified the other <br />three cities that it no longer desires to pursue the regional <br />concept; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View has undertaken an alliance <br />with Independent School District 621 to explore opportunities for <br />a multi-use facility. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Mounds View <br />does hereby declare that it is also withdrawing from the Regional <br />Senior Center Project. <br /> <br />Adopted this 8th day of May, 1995. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />( SEAL) <br />
