RESOLUTION NO. 6508 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION OPPOSING PROPOSED TRANSIT SERVICE REDUCTIONS IN THE CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council operates Metro Transit which provides regional public transit services; and, WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has proposed regional service reductions to transit operations that will negatively impact the City of Mounds View and its residents; and, WHEREAS, many Mounds View residents rely on public transit, specifically Bus Route 25, as their only option for transportation to and from their workplace; and, WHEREAS, the portion of Bus Route 25 north of County Road H2--proposed to be eliminated--has many stops within walking distance for our residents providing them a connection to the entire metro area mass transit system; and, WHEREAS, the elimination of the portion of Bus Route 25 north of County Road H2 would pose a considerable hardship to Mounds View residents at a time when the overall costs of owning and operating a vehicle are rising significantly; and, WHEREAS, now more than ever, Mounds View residents need and depend on the transportation opportunities provided by Metro Transit buses. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Mounds View strongly urges the Metropolitan Council to reconsider its plan to reduce transit service in the City of Mounds View and respectfully proposes the following action: 1. Maintain existing service levels for Route 25 in Mounds View, and 2. Maintain existing Metro Mobility service to all areas of Mounds View Adopted this 25th day of April, 2005.
