• Inspect facilities to identify building maintenance needs. Assist and participate in facility <br /> improvements and alterations. <br /> • Perform light electrical and telecommunication repair and installation. Test and maintain <br /> emergency lighting, security cameras, and security alarm systems. <br /> OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> • Keep maintenance facility and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition. <br /> • Attend and participate in internal and external safety and certification training. <br /> • Assist with responding to citizen requests and complaints, including investigating various matters. <br /> • Oversee the work of seasonal maintenance workers while leading a work crew when assigned by <br /> the Public Works Supervisor and provide on-the-job training in completion of work duties. <br /> • Perform other duties and responsibilities as apparent or assigned by the Public Works Supervisor. <br /> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** <br /> Education: SIGN <br /> • High School Diploma or GED. Two years or more experience is desirable. <br /> Licenses and Certificates: <br /> • Possession of a valid Minnesota Class B commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement; <br /> obtain tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment. <br /> • Possession of a Water Supply System Operator Class D certificate issued by Minnesota <br /> Department of Health or obtain within 18 months of employment. Maintenance Workers <br /> appointed to the Drinking Water subdivision require a Class D certificate at time of employment <br /> and are required obtain a Class B certificate within 5 years of employment. <br /> • Possession of a Wastewater Operator Class S-D certificate issued by Minnesota Pollution Control <br /> Agency or obtain within 18 months of employment. Maintenance Workers appointed to the <br /> Wastewater subdivision require a Class S-D certificate at the time of employment and must obtain <br /> a Class S-C certificate within 3 years of employment. <br /> • Maintenance Workers appointed to the Streets and Parks subdivisions must obtain a Non- <br /> Commercial Pesticide Applicator License issued by Minnesota Department of Agriculture within 18 <br /> months of employment. <br /> • Maintenance Workers appointed to the Stormwater subdivision must obtain an Erosion and <br /> Sediment Control Construction Installer Certificate issued by the University of Minnesota <br /> Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering within 18 months of employment. <br /> • Maintenance Workers appointed to the Facilities subdivision must obtain a Boiler Operator <br /> License issued by Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry within 18 months of employment. <br /> see Collective Bargaining Unit Labor Agreement for job classification system and minimum <br /> advancement qualifications. <br /> Position Description I Maintenance Worker Page 4/6 <br />
