<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> <br />POLICY FOR THE SUPPORT OF ARTISTIC ORGANIZATIONS <br /> <br />GENERAL DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1.1 <br /> <br />AUTHORITY <br />The Support of Artistic Organizations Policy of the City of Mounds View is <br />established by the City Council according to State Statute 471.941. <br /> <br />1.2 <br /> <br />STATUTE 471.941 TEXT <br />"For the purpose of this Section, 'artistic organization" means an <br />association, corporation, or other group of persons that provides an <br />opportunity for persons to participate in the creation, performance, or <br />appreciation of artistic activities which include but are not limited to: music, <br />dance, drama, folk art, architecture and allied fields, painting, sculpture, <br />photography, graphic and craft arts, costume and fashion design, motion <br />pictures, television, radio, tape and sound records, activities related to the <br />presentation, performance, execution, and exhibition of the art forms, and <br />the study of the arts and their application to the human environment. <br /> <br />A county, statutory or home rule charter city, or town may appropriate <br />money to support artistic organizations. The appropriation may be divided <br />among organizations in the proportions that the county board, city council, <br />or town board determines." <br /> <br />APPLICATION AND APPROVAL PROCESS <br /> <br />2.1 The artistic organization shall submit a letter or application addressing the <br />following points: <br /> <br />a) A description of the organization that is sufficient to establish that it is <br />within the definition of an artistic organization as set forth in 471.941. <br />b) A description of the requested support including: the type of support <br />(monetary, supplies, or services), quantity or amount of support, date or <br />time period of support (no more than one year without re-application), <br />and the maximum cost to the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />2.2 The City Administrator shall review the application and if it appears to <br />comply with the provisions of 471.941, shall submit it to the City Council for <br />discussion and possible approval by resolution that shall specify the type, <br />duration, and maximum cost of the support. <br />
