ihe Village of Mou�ds View is located in the N.W. <br />corner af Ramsey County. It is about I6'miles fTOm <br />domtown St. Paul and 12 miles from downtown Minneapol3s. <br />It covers about 2600 acres and had a 1960 population of <br />6,417. The present estimated population is 6,700. ?he <br />saturation population will be about 17,000 and may be <br />reaehed about 1980, <br />ihe Municipal deep well system, recently completed, <br />is designed to serve the ultimate developement of the <br />Village. Four hundred acres are presently zoned and <br />reserved for industrial and cammercial rises. <br />Of the 15 school buildings in District #621, Pinewood <br />Elementary, Red Oak Elementary and Edgewood Junior <br />High are within the Village, Messiah Lutheran, Spring <br />Lake Park Lutheran, Cross of Glory Lutheran and Sunriae <br />Methodist Church a:e lo�ated in Mounds View. The Aamsey <br />County Library ha. a branch in Mounds View. <br />Mounds View is part of the North Suburban Sewer <br />Distriet which plans to start construction of a sewer <br />system this year� Mounds View is also a�ember of the <br />North Suburban Ho-pital District which plana to e�nstruet <br />a 200 bed hospital in the near futuxe. <br />Natural ga:; ±s �erved to the Village by Northern <br />States Power of St, Paul ar.d electr3city is served by <br />Northern States ro�zr of Minneapolis. <br />Interatute Free���qy # 35 West is under construetion <br />along the Easte^r. border of the Village and U.S. #1� <br />crossea the Villa�a {SOT Ea�t to West. <br />The Anoka County Airport is located on the Nosth <br />border of the Village and is presently being expanded <br />to be the second major airport in the Minneapolia- St. Paul <br />area. The Twin City Arsenal, owned by the Defense <br />Department and leasad by private indsastries is lccated on <br />±he Fast border of the Village. Minneapolis Honeywell and <br />other companies do ciasaified work io� tho d9fena� <br />department and th� space agency at this facility. <br />Lakeside Park, jointly owned and operated by Mounds <br />View and Spring ?.zke Park, has an improved awimming beach� <br />picnic area, lighted ball diamond and other recreation <br />facilities, Numer.ous playgrounds are located thraugh ouL <br />the Village, The�e have swings, ball diamonds, skating <br />rinks with warming houses. <br />Most of the :onmeroial deveJ.opements at the present <br />are the neighbo�h.x,d �vr�: o£ r.etailer.
