'2- <br />Commissioners agreed tt�at the park system was teady <br />for further development and that there were residenis <br />who supported their viewpoint. Also, based on rising <br />cos[s, the recent League Survey, and the responsibility <br />to bring this before the public, it was decided to <br />pursue a written proposal. <br />The Commission recommended a hallot giving the <br />community four choices. <br />A) Development of a total Park System <br />B) Development of Parks with Regional Significance <br />C) Development of neighborhood parks <br />D) A combination of A-B-C. <br />They suggested that a formal written proposal be <br />submitted at the next Commission Meeting. <br />DISEASED TREE PRO(2tAM Next on the agenda the Director of Parks and Recreation <br />iniormed the Commissioners that the Park and Recreation <br />Department was establishing a tree disease control <br />program. Ne added that a pamphlet was being developed <br />for Mounds View residents which enables the program <br />to be administered more proficiently. Also� he noted <br />that the program envolved many t�urs and telephone <br />conversations with residents who were highly in�erested. <br />Because of this a general informal hearing was scfieduled <br />for September 9th at 8:30 P.M. at the City Hall. <br />RECREATION PROQtAM A brief presentation was made by the Director on the <br />£all recreation program. A question/anawer seseion <br />followed with Commissioners making additional program <br />suggestions. Mr. Bryant noted that the fall brocfiure <br />would be mailed the first week of September. <br />QtOVELAND/JAYCEE'S <br />The Jaycee Chapter in Mounds View responded to the <br />Director's formal presentation on cleanup at Groveland. <br />They suggested September 7, which tias been tentatively <br />set. <br />OTHER BUSINESS The Park and Recreation Commission reco�ended the <br />adoption of a resolution by the City Council. endorsing <br />amendments to the LAWCON program which would expand <br />i[ and provide a higher priority for acquisition <br />o£ diminishing natural resources in urban countiee auch <br />as Ramsey. <br />Chairman Baumgartner requested tf�at tha Director write <br />a proposal to the City Council for the Monday Meeting <br />on this matter. <br />
