The Director stated that 658 participants <br />had reqistered for programs which did not include <br />infarmai gpms, ceen co-re�, a't sraL::g .�r.na. <br />Park Titles l+btion by Co�nissioner Coplin and seconded by <br />Commissioner 8aake to formally name the city owned <br />16.6 acre site at the intersection of Silver Lake Road <br />and County Road A2 as Mounds View Community Park. The <br />�tion paased unanimously. <br />Motion by Commissioner Haake and seconded by Commiasioner <br />Lundquist to re-name the park known as Wayside Park to <br />Mounds View Civic Center. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Joint Powers The Director was called on to report on the Joint Powers <br />Aqreement Agreement with School District t621 involving six ball <br />diamonds. <br />Bryant stated that the school district (after nine <br />months of deliberation) passed the aqreement at their <br />ti\ last board meetinq. He added that a recouacendatfon from <br />r this Co�nission to the City Council was appropriate to <br />accept or not accept the Joint Powers Agreement. <br />Motion by Vice Chairman Burmeister and seconded by <br />Commissioner Fedor reco�endinq that the City Council <br />pass the pertinent Joint Powers Aqreement with School <br />District No. 621. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Edgewood Pool The la�t item on the aqenda was the proposed municipal <br />manaqement of the school pools. <br />The Director reported that he received a letter from <br />Mr. Barry Bauer, the Coamunity 8ducation Coordinator, <br />reqnesting the City of Mounds View to begin management <br />of recreational svri�maing as of June 1, 1975, at <br />Edqewood Junior Hiqh. <br />Bryant atated that the most effective recreation <br />program is a comprehensive one, not one in which <br />certain activities are segreqated from the whole. <br />Therefore the inteqration of swimming activities into <br />the total proqram would be ideal and best accompliahed <br />by the same aqency. Since the City is the prime <br />purveyor of recreational activities, Bryant sugqeated <br />that the City accept the School Districta proposal. <br />ti% <br />
