-3- City Hall Landscaping/ Nezt on the agenda the Director presented the city hall land- Cub Scout Marigold scaping plans received at no charge from two local nurseries. "'� He stated the landscaping was very important to the appeasance of the city hall as well as the park. Co�issioner Haake reported that the Planning Commission has been getting involved with the esthic responsibilitias in develop- ment and that an attractively landscaped city hall would set an exaople and develop a good attitude among new developers and residents. a.,.anr n.,;nted out that he pursued the plans after checking with -+ —• ihz a,a.mfnistrator because the outside maintenance would tail under to park maintenance responisbility and also because it would be interesting to get a landscape architects concept for plantings at city hall. Councilman Baumgartner pointed out that no funds were set aside for landscaping as of yet and that he doubted if funds wrould 6e available this year. He mentioned that if the Director came up with a plan and schedule with fixed prices that the Council may take s�e action this year. Co�issioner Coplin felt the funds should not come out of the park and mcreation budget. No further action was taken. ..� Regarding the same matter Bryant reported that he had been requested to attend a cut scout meeting. Pack N volunteered to plant marigold flowers at city hall and said they would maintain them weekly. The Director felt this was a good idea and that this could be tied into the landscaping of the city hall. However, he felt unsure as to location and also that approva? should come from City Council. A discussion followed. Co�issioner Haake made a motion to enhanse the present arborvitae at city hall by planting the marigolds around the building. Co�issioner Coplin seconded. A discussion ensued. Chairman Peterson moved to amend the original motion by stating, enhanse the present arborvitae at city hall by planting the marigolds around the building, subject to being moved if the city hall is land- scaped this year. Co�issioner Haake seconded the amended motion and it passed unani- mously. The first motion was then voted on--passing all in favor. Softbail Tournament The director was called on to report on the softball tournament Policy/ policy. Bryant opened the discussion by reporting that he had received nany requests to use city fields to run softball tournasents. He added that vany of these requests had left a bad taste because J they were fro� groups not affiliated in anyway with the city. He stated that he wanted feed-back from commissioners which would help him develop a policy.
