Minutes -3- December 15, 1977 <br />1. Poor attendance at Commisaion meetings. <br />2. Lack of long range plans. <br />3. t.a�k �s pr�fe��a��ai o_ o.ia��e. <br />4. Poor attendance for scheduled programs. <br />5. Increased operating expense. <br />6. Questions concerning the present role of <br />Co�ission; policy making vs. working role. <br />Discusaion followed by Co�issioners stating tha[ Lakeside <br />Park was a definite asset [o the communi[y and that steps <br />should be taken to alleviate exlsting problem areas. <br />Staff informed Commissioners of the January 13 Lakeside Park <br />Co�isaion meeting at the new Spring Lake Park City Hall. <br />1978 Depart- The 1978 goals were reviewed by Staff and additional input <br />men[al Goals 6 and review was requested fsom Commisaioners for the January <br />Objectives meeting. The Commission directed S[aff to zeport <br />back a[ the regular scheduled January mee[ing on the pase - <br />failure records of Park referendums 1n the Metropolitan area. <br />Staff dietributed anar[icle on "The Role of a Park and <br />Recreation Commission". <br />Chairman Peterson requested [hak Staff keep the Commieeionere <br />informed on relevant meetings and related departmental infor- <br />mation. <br />Commisaioner Coplin suggested that Staff work closer with the <br />Community Educa[ion Staff in regards to financial aeeietance <br />and the Athle[ic association. <br />Staff distribu[ed a memo on [he au�er baseball progrem out- <br />lining past practices and reco�ended the formation of a <br />baseball league for 8 year olde. <br />The Co�ieaian accepted [he reco�endation artd Councilman <br />Ziebar[h directed the memo io Mr. Wilhaus of the Mounde Viea <br />Athletic Aseociation for their informatiort and coneidera[ion. <br />No repart. <br />Staff highlighted the November - December S[aff repoet etating <br />that [he training aession wae a euccees and [he 1977 Capital <br />Improvement program had been co�le[ed and the Silver View <br />LAHCON gran[ hed been approved. <br />Motion wae made by Commleeloner Weflen end eeconded by <br />Co�i.esionex Burmeieter to adjoum the meeting.
