MEMO TO: Parke and Recreation Co�issioners <br />FROM: Staff <br />DATE: Sanuary 20� 1978 <br />RE: Upgrading of Edgewood ]r. High Outdoor Facilities <br />During Che past two waeka I have met [wice with Barry Sauer, Director of <br />iiounda View Co�unity Services and Karen Overby, Administrative Asststant <br />from Edgewod Jr. High to discuss the development of Edgewoods outdoor <br />facilities. IC appeare that School Distric[ db21 will be appropriating <br />$300,000/year for [he next four years to develop and upgrade [he outdoor <br />facili[iea a[ each Jr. High Schoal in Che district. <br />Tentative plans call for $25,000 to be allocated for Edgewood Jr. Bigh in <br />1978. <br />The long range plana will be to solici[ financial aupport from each <br />municipality in 1979� 1980 and 1981 to complete the outdoor facilities <br />at each secondxry achool. <br />Al[hough we have not received si[e plans as yet, I have aitached a rough <br />eketch of the exieting facilities to date. Once the final ropo and <br />aerial maps are delivered ae vill begin developing a iinal site plan. <br />Our preeent tirueline for development is as follows: <br />January 10 - Meeting cri[h Community Education Staff <br />January 11-18 - Develop tentative plans <br />January 19-20 - Review plans with Edgewod Jr. High Administration <br />Januaxy 23-24 - Finalize initial plan <br />January 26 - Present to Park Co�ission <br />February 13 - Preeent Co City Council <br />Febraarq 16 - Foxvard [o Cor��mity Education Department for initial <br />funding apprwal <br />April 10 - Co�ence construction weather permit[ing <br />May 22 - Complete phase 1 of development <br />The tentative design costs and rough eatimates are as followe: <br />1978 - Development of site plan S 500.00 <br />Grading 5000.00 <br />Itrigation aystem 15000.00 <br />turf eatablishment 4500.00 <br />1979 - Re-conatruct tennis courts -(possibly ze-locate), including <br />lighting, Fencing and color coating -$25,000 <br />1980 - Conatruct a four lane track arour,d football field -$15,000 <br />Pence 3 balifields, rebuild backatopa, and add bleacAers -$10�000 <br />1981 - Fill eouth end of eehool property and establiah turf -$5,000 <br />Add multipurpoee field area for soccer and baseball -$5�000 <br />Conetruct bathroom equipment and maintenance facility -$15,000 <br />Theee plane are jwt ball park figurea and will be refined and reeearched in <br />the coming weeka. <br />In addition to the aforemen[ioned Capital Outlay Improvementa, a �o1nt povere <br />agreement for usage and field maintenance will have to be established betveeo <br />[he municipality and echool district. <br />
