MEMO T0: Parlca 6 Recreation Co�isaioners <br />FAOM: StaFf <br />DATE: March 29, 1978 <br />R8: Monthly Update - March, 1978 <br />The purpose of this report is to keep the Parks and Recreation Co�ission <br />infoxmed on current ieaues within the Parks, Recreation and Foreatry <br />Depar[ment that do not need official Co�isaion action. <br />A reaource file of related items will be placed ia ehe Ci[y Hall office <br />aad is available for your review upon requeat: <br />1. Tree Contract Approved - The Tree Contract fos the removal of <br />diseased treea has been awarded [o J. B.'s Txee Removal Servicea <br />for the period of March 15, 1978 to March 15, 1979. A copy of <br />[he signed con[ract is available foz your review in the March <br />reeource f11e. <br />2. Trac[or bid awarded - The City Council awarded the low bid of <br />$5,940.00 to Toro Inc. for [he purchase of a front mounted <br />rotary mower and trailer. Staff has ordered [he equipment and <br />expects delivery in early April. <br />3. Spring Sign up - Regis[ra[ion for Spring programe vas conducted <br />oa two consecutive Saturdxvs, March 18 and 25 as well as during <br />¢ormal businesa hours. Reglatration at thie point has been <br />excellent in [he swimming, tennis and golf areas. The athletic <br />leaguea regiatration is down, bu[ staff will be making preaenta- <br />[ions [he second week of April at each elementary and secondary <br />school. <br />4. S�er Timeline - Staff has been buey in[erviewing and reviewing <br />summer playground applicationa during [he paet month. At thia <br />time all su�er contracts have been mailed out end we are awaiting <br />their re[urn. <br />Our basic su�er staff will consist of about 12 par[-time employeee <br />excluding our swimming program. <br />5. Lekeside Park Commiseion - Staff has met with Ramsey County Parlce <br />and Reczeation Deparement concerning the poten[ial of deeding [he <br />.. ..:. [hem. They .� pr •z..:�. �t "r ,,...u[ed snd are pre99Tta:Y <br />doing some etaff research. <br />There was some queation ae to whe[her the park could be deeded over, <br />but that iasue hae been cleared up artd i[ appeara to be poaeible. <br />Staff Aopes to have a final response from Rameey County in the next <br />tw veeks. <br />6. City Hall Remodeling - The basement remodeling projec[ hae been <br />moving elong ee echeduled and etaff hopes to be moved in by the <br />middle of April. <br />
