OEPARTMENT OF PARKS, <br />RECREATION AND FORESTRV <br />Cif of �ou�dsVeu� <br />� qqMSEYCOUNTY,MINNESDTA <br />2C01 HIGNWAV 10 <br />MOUNOS V IEW, MINN. 55112 <br />hffiMO T0: Parks and Recreation Commissioners <br />FROM: Staff <br />DATE: August 23, 1978 <br />RE: Monthly Update, August, 1975 <br />The purpose of this report is to keep the Parks and RecreaCion <br />Commission informed on current issues within the Parks, Recreation <br />and Forestry Department that do not need official Commission action. <br />Park Shelter Buildings - The C.E.T.A. crew has completed the <br />paintangs o t e ar Shelter Buildings. We had a crew of four <br />youth who worked for three weeks to complete the painting inside <br />and out. The cost for paint was approximately $200.00 or $40.00/ <br />building. <br />We will be visiting 2 or 3 buildings on Thursday evening. <br />Sand Volleyball Court - The park maintenance crew has recently <br />comp eti ed t�instal�Iation of a sand volleyhall court at the <br />Caty Hall park. The project bas paid for out of the Recreation <br />Activity account and cost $i70.00 to build excluding the labor. <br />We will be watching the usage to determine if such a facility <br />would be a positive addition at another park site in Yhe future. <br />Softball Tournament - Paron Motors sponsored a men's softball <br />tourr.ament on ugust 5 and 6 for the benefit of one of their <br />players who was injured during the season. <br />The tournament was extremely successful from both the city's <br />and team'�s standpoint. It netted the ballplayer and team over <br />$1,000 t� pay for hospital costs and the City received $169.00 <br />is tour�xament fees. <br />The tournament had a large number of spectators (2-300 at <br />Cliampionship game) and there were no problems whatsoever. <br />D.1�:�.C.A. Pro g�ram - Staff has been working with Ramsey County <br />C.�kS. ..T A program and School District N621 to finalize plans for <br />ti�e retention of Teri Trombley for the 1978-79 school year. <br />At this time Teri will be continuing her part time position as <br />clerical aid beginnning September 18. She will be working 20 <br />hours per week and will be receiving $2.65/hour from C.E.T.A. <br />and 35Q/hour from the City making for a total of $3.00/hour. <br />
