City Budget <br />Silver View Park <br />Acquisition <br />Fall Program <br />Update <br />Winter/Spring <br />Brochure <br />- 3- <br />Staff briefly outlined the 1979 budget stating thaY it <br />had been basicalty approved by Council as outlined at <br />the Oetober meeting. <br />The major park development project for 1979 will be Phase <br />1 of Silver View Park, pending final approval from the <br />State Planning Department. <br />Staff presented the staff report updating the CommissSon <br />on the remaining acquisition of 19 acres from Kraus-Anderson. <br />The grant monies from the Federal and State Government <br />have been approved and Attorney Meyers has been negotiating <br />with the owner. <br />Staff reported that classes had been going well and that <br />the Fatl programs would be drawing to a close the first <br />week in Oece�er. <br />Staff distributed a list of proposed programs for the <br />winter/spring brochure. <br />The brochure will have co�ined winter and spring progra� <br />and it will be delivered to the homes the first week in <br />January. <br />Among the new classes are: <br />1. Aerobics for Women <br />2. Girls Basketball <br />3. Martial Arts for Teens <br />4. Teen Ski Trips <br />5. Raquetball <br />6. Reasons and Responses <br />7. Storyhour <br />8. Table Tennis Tournament <br />9. Tumbling for Tots <br />Staff also elaborated on the current philosophy that 9s <br />being i�lemented inctuding: <br />1. Promotion of life long sports. <br />2. De-emphasizing of highly organized, competitive team <br />sport programs. <br />3. Increased day time programs. <br />4. Increased program efforts for special population <br />graups, i.e. pre-school, teens and sr. citizens. <br />Park Oevetopment Staff updated the Conenission on recent park development <br />including the tot-lots at Oakwood and Lambert, Edgewood <br />Athletic fietds, Pinewood infields and Greenfield hockey <br />rink. <br />
