Mr. Ostlund Page 2 The scheduled 1979 project of constructing 4 new lit tennis courts has been postponed until 1980 at a cost of $50,000, which was intended to be split between the City and School District 50-50. The 1980 construction was rtwved ahead to 1979 as per agreement from P1r. Barry Bauer. The 198D construction of Phase 3 is as follows: ` Resurface Old Tennis Courts 5 7,000 Install 4 land track $10,000 Purchase bleachers and benches $ 5,000 Trailwdy system $ 3,000 Knockdown hockey rink $ 4,000 9,000 Of that 529,000 the School District was going to pay $23,OQ0 and the (ity ^�6,000. The City currently has budgeted in the 7979 adopted budget thE required 56,000 matching funds. � Phase four in 1982 includes the construction of a$3�,000 multi-purpose building for $30,000 of which the City's sha�e will be $5,000. Sin.:e that time we have discussed the possibilities of constructing °hase 2 in 1979 with the understanding that the City could pay its pro-rata share of 525,000 or 50% in fiscal year 1980. At this point I have not brought this issue before the Councit for approval and I really do not have a fe:' as to how the proposal will be received. At this point I feel that many of the elements of Phase 3 should receive a higher priority than the tennis court constructian. Specific ite� that I see as imperative are the trailway system and bteachers and players benches. In addition I foresee �5,000 of.misceltaneous expenses to complete the fields for the 1979 season such as homeplates> pitchers rubbers, minor landscaping, final grading work and fertilizer. If the construction of the tennis courts would negate the possibility of these ite� totalling §13,000 or $7,000 of the School District's rtaney (pending the use of the City's $6,000) I could not support the construction of tennis courts in 1979. It was � original understanding that we were ;ning to try and do both Phase 2 and 3 in 1979.
