Grant Staff received notification in the mail on Friday, August 10, 1979 from the H.C.R.S. that to be considered for funding for Urban Park and Recrea- tion Recovery Act (UPARR) funding a letter Sndicating our intent to file must be submitted no later than August 15, 7979. Staff is now in the process of compiling a grant application for the re-furbishing and construction of 7 park shelter buildings. I have enciosed a copy of the preliminary grant application which oiill have additionat support material attached to it. The initial grant request will be for b�39,175. This.is a 100% 9rant application which will not require matching funds from the City. As the deadline for submitting application is August 75, 1979, I will be nezding Council approval on Mmnday evening to submit the preliminary grant application. I will be in attendance at the August 13, 7979 meeting to ans�ier any question the Council may have. MEMO T0: Pa s a ion Comnissioners FROM: Staff � DATE: August 7 RE: Park Shelte Building Grant Application Enclosed is a preliminary grant application approved by the City Council on August 13, 1979. 1be initial grant application is for $539,175 for the tonstruction of seven park shelter buildings at the following locations: Greenfield Park Oakwood Park Lartbert Park Groveland Park Woodcrest Park Hillview Park Ardan Park Although our chances for being funded are at best minimal (remember Bing Crosby and "The Miracle at 34th Street�staff feels it is worth the time involved. I have enclosed the original basic drawing for your review and recamrendations. BasScally what we are doing is updating the L.P.W. grant which was submitted in 1976. Staff should receive notification on our grant's application around February of 1980.
