Ander RE: Council Fire Rin at on Enclosed is a copy of a letter dated September 9, 1979, to Peg Mountin outlining Staff's position in regarda to the - location of the campfire ring within the Mounds View Parks _, Syatem. The campfire ring location has become a somewhat controversial item as the Mounds View Women Jaycees originally requested that the campfire ring be located at Groveland Park. It.should be noted before we diacusa the propoaed location that the Jayceea donated $100 for the purchase of a campfire rinq in 1976 and the project was dropped for unknown reasone. The ring has now been purchased and a location has tentatively been aqreed upon. I met aith Connie Helmer, repreaenting the Mounds View Jayceea, laet week and they have aqreed that the City Hall park site would be the beat location for the fire ring at thia time. After walking the qrounda, it waa determined that a 25' diameter circle be cut between the larqe Oak trees on the west end of the City Hall property to houee the new fire ring. Staff concure with the Jayceee' recommendation and feele that thie aite would be a good choice. In addition to the fire ring, the Mounde View Jaycees have etated that they would be willing to keep a supply of woo8 available for any community group that would reaerve the fire rinq facility. I have enclosed a copy of a propoeed rinq deeign for the Commiasion's review. As etated in the cover letter, staff propoaes that the Camaiseion take 10 minutee prior to beginning the Commiaeion meeting to walk the City Hall aite to view, first hand, the propoeed location `..i
