_
,.
1•tEh10 T0: Communfty Educ iioi Fdv,Fso:y Council
FROt4: Bruce K. rra'e on'; Ce ncllR.erber
OATE: October 16, 1939 n%
RE: Proposed Superbisory lan
Following tha SepteR6er 18, 1979, Cu.,runity Educa*.foo Advisory Louncil
meeting, iL became v°ry apparent that I was uoabie to effectively cortmunicate
position in re7ation to the issue of payrent for school supervisors in the
Fbunds View Schoo7 Uistrict. To better clariy my position, i have fncluded
smre figures and support Eata from the Plorth St. Pau1/aplewood School Distrlct
from which I am rtnst familiar, rihich better dz`ines my posttfon. Before I
outline the existing program in School District °027, I aould like to make a few
clarifying statements:
1. I, by no :neans, fe_7 that the municipzlity is not financialty responsible
for tha use> upkeep, and supzrvision o£ the school facilities. t•Iy basic
position in relationship to the finar.tes and coordination oF the Cortnunity
Education DzpartRSnt regardin9 school usag_ facilities is that:
a. It is the responsibility of t Co :aunity Education Dzpartrcent
to ensure that the school ia:ilitias are rade avaitable to
existing carr, unity progrars at as no:inal cost as passible.
b. The Cornunity EGucation C=pertrent shoutd ba the responsible agent
for coordinating the school supervisors whieh irc7udes sch?du}ing
of hours, salaries, and direct suprvisian.
c. In turn, it is the Municipzlities responsibility to provide
financial assistance oihenevar tha day school or general fund
budget is impacted bacause o the conrunity viida usaga.
I believe that there are difrerent levels of impact on the day
school program based on facility used, nusber of p2ople, Type of
activity, ctc. .
It is taith these goals in rind that tne sup?rvisory plan for the Plorth St.Paul
Maple>rood School District was davisd. Rs cen b noted by the enclosed attachments
the schcol district currently providas for " F•ee usa; of tnz schoot for all
comunity xnd civic organizationi."
