MEMO T0: Mounds View Parks and Recreation Comnissioners
FROM: Staff
DATE: October 23, 1979
RE: Mrs. daycees Proposal
Enclosed are pictures of two benches that have been proposed for donation by
the Mounds View Mrs. Jaycees. The Mrs. Jaycees have a totat of E200 they would
like to danate to the City park system for the purchase of benches which would
be used at neighboring tot lots for parents to view their children wMle they
are playin The wooden Big Toy bench is proposed to be located at Lambert Park
— and casts 235. The new slat bench is a Miracle and proposed to be located at
Hillview Park at a cost of $165.
As the Mrs. Jaycees oniy have $200, it would be the City's responsibility to
match that $200 with City funds to pay for the total bill. There currently is
enough money in the Recreation Actiivity Fund ta offset the deficit of the benches
' which would be approximately $250. Staff has met with Mrs. Jaycees and concurrs
with the proposed recommendations as they would blend in with the existing equip-
ment and serve a much needed funcEion. The Park Commission has the following
options:
7. Purchase both benches at a cost of approximatety 5450 and match the
donation with $250 from the Recreation Activity Fund.
2. Purchase just the Miracle bench for approximately E200 and not expend
any monies fran the Recreation Activity Fund.
3. Deny the donation until enough money is raised to purchase the henches
that the Park Commission wouid like.
4, Tatile any action for additional Staff revievr.
Sta1f vautd recmaend option bl as both benches are needed at this pdint and
tliere ae currentty enough funds availabte in the Recreation Activtty Account
and the donatton would be a welcome relief to our already tight fiscai budget.
