T`ie Council's decisions on parks and open space are based on its Reereaiion Open Space Policy Plan and an hav proposals-for parks nesh wieh other regional syscem plans (tranzportation. airports, sewers, etc.). Thn Parks and Open Spaee Commission, established by the 1974 legislature, advises and assists the Council in developi�g lo�g-range plans for parks and apen space faeilities in the Metropolitan Area. The Commission also advises. the Councii on qrant requests from county and municioal governmenes for fednral and state funds for park acquisition and develooment.
