MINU 1'F.S 'DF THE PROCEEDINGS OF 'THB <br />PAkI<S AND RECREATION COMM'ISSION <br />CITY Ot MOUNUS VIEW <br />�"i COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNE50TA <br />CALL TD ORDER <br />ROLL CALL <br />CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT <br />,,:µ--�--,... <br />� <br />COUNCILMEMBERS REPORT <br />PARK REFERENDUM <br />DISCUSSION <br />January 30, 1986 <br />Mounds View City Hall <br />Council Chambers <br />6:3U p.m. <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:45 p.m. <br />by Chairperson Wayne Ourmeister. <br />Commissioners present: Commissioners Long, <br />Wuori, Weflen, and Chairperson Hurmeister. <br />Commissioners absent: Commissioners Linnell, <br />Letendre and Silvis. <br />Councilmembers present: Councilmember Quick. <br />Staff present: Parks and Recreation Director <br />Anderson and Recreation/Athletic Supervisor <br />Saarion. <br />Chairperson Burmeister thanked Commissioner <br />Wuori for the time �nd energy spent on the <br />recent park refer�e*��•�m. <br />Councilmember Quick also expres.�ed his thanks <br />and appreciation on behalf of the City Coun- <br />cil to Commissioner Wuori, Eorcoordinatinq <br />the "People for Farks" Cnmmittee. <br />Staff distributed a newspaper article from <br />the New Brighton Bulletin which outlined the <br />department's position regardinq the recent <br />referendum. Staff indicated that f.or some <br />reason, we were unable to get e�ough yes <br />vbters out due to sither voter apathy or <br />possiDly poor weather conditions. The Com- <br />missipn generally concurred with staff's <br />Eeelings and expeessed their surprise at the <br />Einal tabulations. <br />A discuasion ensued regarding various fundinq <br />o�ti�ns that could be expl�red to raise <br />monies for future park development includinq <br />additional joint powers agreements Eor staff- <br />ing, pull tabs and expansion of the neighbor- <br />hood park foundation concept. It was recom- <br />mended by Chairperson Burmeister that a joint <br />meeting be established with tht City Cauncil <br />� to determine the Council's reaction as weli <br />as set some future plans. <br />
