Staff reviewed the memorandum outlininq the <br />School District's request for the City to <br />outline the position on purchasinq and/or <br />leasinq the Red Dak School site. StafE indi- <br />cated that they could not justif.y exceptinq <br />the property without a development proposal <br />beinq planned for the immediate future. <br />Staff estimated that $80,000 was nee�ed t� <br />develop the site as a soccer cnmplex and fur- <br />ther stated that there were no dollars avail- <br />able for the fundinq that they were currently <br />aware of. <br />The Commission had a lonq discussion on this <br />issue, discussing pnssible alternatives for <br />Eur�dinq includinq; community hlock grants, <br />joint powers aqreements with the School Dis- <br />trict, and requestinq fundinq from local <br />youth and adult soccer associations.F'ollowinc7 <br />the discussinn, a mntic�n was ma�ie by Chair- <br />p�rson Burmei�`�-:, seconded bV Commissioner <br />Long to requ�c:° that the City Council ask for <br />a one year moritorium on the sale of the pro- <br />perty to allow the City t� expinre p�ssible <br />funding alternatives.
