UPDATE OF RED UAK
SCHOOL'SITE FACILITY
-2-
Staff indicated that a Eormal letter had been
rubmitted to the school district by the City
indicating their recommendation that the Red
Oak site be sold as surplus praperty, as no
park development monies aro available at this
time. The school district failed to act on
this issue and recommended the site be
retained for ossible development as a soccer
site with the local soacer association being
responsfble for fund raising.
DEPARTMENT'S ANNUAL StafE distributed copies of the 1985 annual
REPORT report and requQSted any input or reaction to
the report at the regularly scheduled April
Commission meting.
AQUATICS SUPERVISOR Staff indicated that at this time they had
POSITION UPDATE received over 50 applications for the
Aquatics Supervisor position and hoped to
complete the process in the next two weeks by
having a written exercise followed by a for-
mal fnterview for four to six candidates.
Staff indicated that the joint powers agree-
ment between the Cities of Mounds View and
New Arighton had been Eormalized and that it
appeared that a new Aquatics Supervisor
would be on board by early Ptay. It was
further stated khat 1Haureen Thielen had
accepted a new posi.,:'..n in Japan working fnr
a private Americar chaol.
STAE'E REPORT
Staff indicated that they had attended the
NRPA Executive Development Program in Indiana
in early Apri1 and that it was a very posi-
tive experience. Staff then distributed a
copy of the NA5A team planning exercise and
the Commission took time to complete the po-
gram. In addition, staff indicated that one
of the ideas that Kansas had been doing was
having a volunteer "rounding up" of residen-
tial water bills with the extra dollars going
to park development within the city. The
Commission thought this was a good idea and
asked staff to dQVelop a policy Eor review at
the next Commission meeting.
StaEf also indicated titat the City was in the
process oE becoming computerized and that the
new terminals should be on line by the end of
June. StaFf also invited the Commission to
attend the Community Education breakfast to
be held at Edgewood Community Center on
Thursday► April 17 at 7:00 a.m. if at all
possible.

`,_
