TUU <br /> r&es's - Partne0— <br /> Time Commitment: 2.5 Hours Per Month Meeting Dates: Third Friday of Every Month <br /> Staff Liaison: Aaron Parrish, Meeting Time: 7:30 A.M. <br /> Economic Development Coordinator <br /> 763-717-4029 <br /> Overview: <br /> The Economic Development Commission serves as an advisory body to the Economic Development Authority <br /> to promote a positive economic climate and revitalize the community by developing programs to retain and <br /> expand existing businesses, attract desirable new businesses, and redevelop targeted areas in the City. <br /> Typical Activities: <br /> Reviews and makes recommendations to the EDA on programs and opportunities to enhance business <br /> • <br /> development and retention. <br /> 2. Evaluates plans and actions encouraging the redevelopment of County Highway 10. Recognizes <br /> redevelopment of County Highway 10 as an important element in the positive economic vitality of Mounds <br /> View. <br /> 3. Evaluates staff research on innovative programs of other metro area cities as it relates to development, <br /> redevelopment and housing rehabilitation. <br /> 4. Work cooperatively to coordinate the goals of the respective commissions. <br /> 5. Annually monitors and provides input on the Mounds View Housing Replacement Program and other <br /> housing initiatives. Evaluates the effectiveness of housing programs as a tool in providing the community <br /> with affordable and life cycle housing and generating positive long-term economic growth. <br /> 6. Advocates involvement in the New Brighton/Mounds View Area Chamber of Commerce to provide a <br /> framework for the evaluation of business concern and to help support a positive business climate. <br /> Encourages the participation of the business community in Chamber activities. <br /> 7. Participates with staff in retention calls and visits to local businesses. <br /> 8. Assists staff with marketing efforts aimed at enhancing the image and identity of the community. <br /> 9. Makes recommendations to the EDA regarding Business Improvement Partnership Loans, Tax Increment <br /> Finance Assistance, Tax Abatement, and other economic development finance tools. <br /> • Communicates on a regular basis with the public on the Economic Development Commission's activities, <br /> encourages written or verbal comment through the City Newsletter, cable and other interactive avenues. <br />
