• 2008 Mounds View Comprehensive Plan Goals & Policies The City will govern and direct future economic development in Mounds View by the following set of goals and policies. The goals and policies focus on business development and redevelopment but they have connections to other chapters of this Comprehensive Plan. Land use, housing, transportation and public amenities also affect the City's ability to retain its economic base and to attract development. Business Development Goal: Retention In light of the increasing mobility of businesses, Mounds View will focus on retaining existing businesses in the city. In some cases,the City may decide to help businesses create circumstances where they can expand to meet their customers' needs and/or their own desire to grow and prosper. Retention Policies • Enhance business communication efforts through evaluation of existing programs. • • Focus business retention efforts on businesses that the City has identified as having the greatest impact for future growth and development by continuing informal business retention visits and site tours. • Maintain and support open communication between the city and the business community in acknowledgement of their value and be in a position to address concerns or meet expectations. • Make available a reasonable and prudent level of assistance (financial or otherwise)to enable existing businesses to expand their operations and/or facilities in Mounds View. • Maintain the Mounds View Business Toolbox (approved by the EDA in March 2008). The Toolbox includes economic development resources and services available for existing and new businesses desiring to locate in Mounds View. Chapter 7: Economic Development 7-6
