Item No. 8A-8F <br /> Meeting Date: December 12, 2008 <br /> Type of Business: EDC <br /> • City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> To: Economic Development Commission <br /> From: Heidi Steinmetz, Economic Development Specialist <br /> Item Title/Subject: Summary of EDC Items 8A-8F <br /> 8A - Mounds View Branding Project Update <br /> 93 residential surveys completed online <br /> 574 residential surveys hard copies submitted <br /> 667 total (as of December 8, 2008) <br /> Risdall Marketing Group will be presenting the results of the residential and business surveys, in <br /> addition to the brand strategy, at the January 5, 2009 City Council Work Session. <br /> 8B - New Silver View Plaza Tenant(A Home Enhanced: Stager's Resource Outlet) <br /> Per Commissioner Belting's question at the last EDC meeting, staff inquired about the lease terms for <br /> "A Home Enhanced". The property's leasing agent responded that the business's lease is "shorter <br /> term with the ability for relocation" (if needed) in case a large space is requested (within the building) <br /> by another tenant. <br /> • 8C - New Mounds View Square Tenant - Dealsmart <br /> This is a reminder that a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at Dealsmart at 11 am on December 12, <br /> 2008. <br /> 8D - New Silver View Plaza Tenant(Fantastic Sams Will Open in Early Jan. 2009) <br /> The owner of Mounds View's Fantastic Sams hopes to open the store either the first or second week <br /> of January 2009. <br /> 8E - County Road 10 Redevelopment Update <br /> The EDA discussed this item at their December 8, 2008 meeting. The EDA is interested in having <br /> discussions with an interested developer regarding the EDA's participation in a potential <br /> redevelopment project for the corner of County Road 10 and Woodale Drive. Please see the attached <br /> staff report (cover memo only) for background information. The EDA received this information at their <br /> December 8th meeting. <br /> 8F - Housing Replacement Program Update <br /> The EDA discussed this item at their December 8, 2008 meeting. The EDA was not interested in <br /> updating Mounds View's list of eligible properties for acquisition until summer or fall of 2009. Please <br /> see the attached staff report (cover memo only) for background information.
