<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY RESOLUTION NO. 6331 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SELECTION OF A MANAGER FOR THE <br />MOUNDS VIEW BANQUET FACILITY AND CONFERENCE CENTER AND TO <br />AUTHORIZE STAFF TO FINALIZE A MANAGEMENT, CATERING AND FOOD <br />SERVICE AGREEMENT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is the owner of the Mounds View Community Center <br />at 5394 Edgewood Drive in the City of Mounds View, and the Mounds View <br />Banquet Center (MVBC) is located in the M.V. Community Center; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on November 10, 2003 the City of Mounds View selected the <br />Mermaid Entertainment & Event Center as the Interim Manager of the MVBC <br />following a Request for Proposals (RFP) process; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City seeks to develop and implement a "Banquet Center <br />Management, Catering and Food Service Agreement" to succeed the Interim <br />Agreement that expires on December 31,2004; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on June 28, 2004 the City Council directed staff to initiate an <br />RFP process to obtain proposals from Twin Cities businesses to manage the <br />MVBC; and that information was provided to 16 companies; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the following businesses-Canyon Grille of Coon Rapids, <br />Lancer Catering of Eagan, and Mermaid Entertainment & Event Center of <br />Mounds View-submitted proposals and the $1,000 application fee by close of <br />business on Friday, July 30,2004; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City, through the RFP, requested a minimum of $5,000 a <br />month to lease 11,537 sq. ft. of space in the MV. Community Center, including <br />the ballroom, hallways, and the former Community Education area, and that <br />Canyon Grille has proposed doing so; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Canyon Grille has gone beyond what is required and offered <br />to invest in the first year between $14,000 and $19,000 of its own resources for <br />kitchen equipment, including a walk-in cooler, range, and convection oven); and <br />pledged to provide in years 2 through 5 up to $10,000 per year for updating the <br />banquet area. <br />
