<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 5633 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE RENEWAL OF THE 2001-2002 SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF MOUNDS VIEW AND NEW BRIGHTON AND ISO #621 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a School Resource Officer position was implemented at lrondale High School in 1994 and the <br />creation of this position has had a positive impact for the Mounds View School District #621, and the cities of <br />New Brighton and Mounds View; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a substantial percentage of the students in attendance at lrondale High School reside in Mounds <br />View; the current student population is as follows: <br />34% Mounds View residents <br />51% New Brighton residents <br />15% from other communities <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since the implementation of the School Resource Officer position at Irondale, the City of Mounds <br />View has shared the cost of training and assigning a New Brighton Police Officer to lrondale High School as <br />a School Resource Officer. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the annual cost of this position is based on total personnel expenses, including benefits and <br />other peripheral expenses, such as vehicle expense, associated with the position; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the expense formula has been renegotiated to reflect the current student population percentage <br />per city, and the actual time the officer is assigned during the school year; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the total program costs are to be shared as follows: <br />50% paid by the School District #621 <br />30% paid by the City of New Brighton <br />20% paid by the City of Mounds View <br /> <br />WHEREAS, due to the renegotiated contract, the cost to the City of Mounds View for this renewal period is <br />expected to be less than $10,000.00, reflecting a savings of approximately $3,500.00 from the previous <br />contract period; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council for the City of Mounds View approves the <br />renewal of the 2001-2002 School Resource officer agreement between the cities of Mounds View and New <br />Brighton and ISD#621. <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br /> <br />SEAL <br /> <br />Richar~ Santerre, Mayor <br /> <br />(/\ iLL i' fV'~ LL <br />a ~.,Gf'(A: ' <br />Kathl~en Miller, City Administrator <br /> <br />r\lt~tion: MARTY <br /> <br />Second: STICiNEY <br /> <br />Sonterre: <br />Stigney: <br />Quick: <br />Marty: <br />Thomas: <br /> <br />aye <br /> <br />aye <br />aye <br />aye <br />aye <br />
