<br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />APPOINTMENTS TO COMMISSIONS POLICY <br /> <br />GENERAL PROCEDURE <br /> <br />1. AUTHORITY <br />Provisions for making appointments to commissions are established in the <br />City Charter and City Code. <br /> <br />2. PURPOSE <br />The purpose of this policy is to formalize the process by which <br />appointments are made to Commissions. <br /> <br />3. NOTIFICATION <br />Two months prior to the expiration of their term, a letter will be mailed out <br />by Administration to all Commissioners whose terms are expiring, <br />thanking each for his/her participation. For those who are eligible for re- <br />appointment the letter will include a request for the Commissioner to re- <br />apply with an application attached. All applications will be considered on <br />their merits. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />PUBLlCATON <br />Two months prior to the expiration of terms, notification of vacancies shall <br />be advertised in the Local Paper, Mounds View Matters, the City's web <br />site, and cable channel. That notification should include a list of the <br />vacancies, information on obtaining the appropriate applications and a <br />deadline for receipt of applications (at least two weeks prior to formal <br />appointments). <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />5. REVIEW <br />Applications will be collected by the Administration Department. Once the <br />deadline for receipt of applications has been reached then the Department <br />will make copies for the Mayor to review. The City Council will be <br />provided with copies of all applications in their Council packet. The Mayor <br />will make his recommendations to the City Council. <br /> <br />6. APPOINTMENTS <br />The City Council will make the final decision on recommendations made <br />by the Mayor through Resolution. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />7. FORMAL NOTICE <br />A formal letter will be mailed to each appointed Commissioner with an <br />attached copy of the by-laws. A letter will be mailed to those who applied <br />but were not appointed, thanking them and asking that they consider <br />applying at a future point. <br />
