<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 5903 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MICHAEL SOMMER AS POLICE CHIEF <br /> <br />WHEREAS, upon direction from the Police Civil Service Commission the Police <br />Chief position was advertised; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has received and reviewed approximately 23 applications <br />for the position and interviewed four candidates; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Police Civil Service Commission has reviewed the qualifications <br />of the top three candidates and the criminal and psychological background information for the <br />top candidate, Michael Sommer; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Police Civil Service Commission has ranked the top three <br />candidates and has voted to certify the following list of three names to the City Council: <br /> <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br /> <br />Michael Sommer <br />Mark Twombly <br />David Langfellow <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council <br />accepts the recommendation of the Police Civil Service Commission to appoint Michael <br />Sommer as Police Chief for the City of Mounds View, and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mr, Sommer's appointment is <br />contingent upon a satisfactory physical examination and drug screen; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mr. Sommer will start at Step 3 <br />($32.42) with an increase to Step 4 ($34.23) after six months of employment pending <br />satisfactory performance and an increase to Step 5 ($36,03) after one year of employment <br />pending satisfactory performance; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mr, Sommer will receive 30 days of banked <br />sick leave and three weeks of banked vacation, Mr, Sommer will accrue three weeks of <br />vacation annually for the first five years of employment. All other personnel policies will apply <br />normally. <br />
