<br />. <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />a- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 5948 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE OF REMAINING LLEBG GRANT FUNDS FOR <br />THE PURCHASE OF VOICE RECOGNITION SOFTWARE, PERIFERAL EQUIPMENT AND <br />NECESSARY COMPUTERS AND UPGRADES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Police Department was awarded $12,159.00 on March 1, <br />2001 under a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG); and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the award may be used for the purchase of equipment which will improve <br />the efficiency and effectiveness of the police department; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, to date $4,382.41 of the funds have been expended to purchase video <br />viewing and printing equipment; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the remaining funds of $7,776.59 must be spent by February 28,2003 under <br />the original terms of the grant; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff has investigated several possibilities for use of these funds and has <br />determined that the acquisition of a voice recognition program would greatly increase the <br />efficiency and effectiveness of the department; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in addition to the software program, peripheral equipment, digital voice <br />recorders with extra memory, training, and additional computers will be needed to extract the <br />most benefit from the voice recognition program; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed cost of the complete program, equipment and training come to <br />a total amount of about $7,919.00; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the balance of the cost for this purchase or approximately $142.00 will be <br />paid from the police equipment fund; and, <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council does hereby <br />authorize staff to expend the remaining LLEBG Funds of $7,776.59, plus additional monies of <br />approximately $142.00 from the department equipment fund, for the purchase of a Voice <br />Recognition Program for six users, digital voice recorders, additional memory, training, a portable <br />microphone, a desktop computer w/monitor, a desktop computer w/o monitor, and a laptop <br />computer. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~ebrUary'2003. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />... ke, ayor <br /> <br />/J~~ <br /> <br />James Ericson, Interim City Administrator <br /> <br />(SEAL) <br />
