RESOLUTION 8598 <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> APPROVING UPGRADING THE SCADA (SUPERVISORY, CONTROL, AND DATA <br /> ACQUISITION) COMPUTER PROGRAM <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View has operated a water and sewer <br /> distribution system since the early 1960's. These are critical health and safety services <br /> vital to our everyday lives as these systems need to operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a <br /> year, and; <br /> WHEREAS, The SCADA (Supervisory, Control, and Data Acquisition) is a <br /> computer system for operating the City's utility systems. It was originally installed in <br /> 1989, and upgraded in 1998, and 2007, and; <br /> WHEREAS, Staff along with Automatic Systems has determined that the SCADA <br /> system software and the computer that controls the software program, are past the life <br /> expectancy, and; <br /> WHEREAS, Staff received a quote for updating the SCADA software program <br /> and computer system including the automatic rain sensors from Automatic Systems <br /> Company for $33,418.00 with a 5% contingency of $1,597.90 and is budgeted in 700- <br /> 4823-3030, and; <br /> WHEREAS, Also during the upgrade of the SCADA system, road sensors will be <br /> installed at three sites, integrating this monitoring system into the SCADA system for <br /> $8,250.00 and is budgeted in 480-4180-7030. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br /> Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br /> 1. Approves the proposal from Automatic Systems Company for updating the <br /> SCADA software program and computer system including automatic rain sensors <br /> for $33,418.00 with a 5% contingency of $1,597.90, totaling $35,015.90 and is <br /> budgeted in the Water Fund of 700-4823-3030. (The automatic rain gauges are <br /> budgeted in Water 700-4823-7030, $2,750.00, Sewer 730-4823-7030, $2,750.00, <br /> Storm Sewer 745-4415-7030, $2,750.00.) <br /> 2.
