POSITION DESCRIPTION • <br />Position Title: Public Works Maintenance <br />Department: Public Works -Streets <br />Accountable To: Public Works Director <br />Status: Collective Bargaining Unit -Non Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br />To operate construction and maintenance equipment used in the maintenance of <br />streets, sidewalks and other pubic facilities of the City. This includes snow plowing, <br />street patching, and sewer repair. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Public Works Supervisor. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />• Places base materials using proper equipment. <br />• Places and compacts bituminous surface using proper equipment. <br />• Plows sidewalks, streets and parking lots using proper equipment. <br />• Applies salt and sand with motorized vehicles. <br />• Installs and repairs signs and barricades. <br />• Performs blacktop patching and overlay on street and parking lots using proper <br />equipment. <br />• Unclogs and cleans sanitary and storm drains. <br />• Hauls materials using proper equipment. <br />• Loads and unloads trucks using proper equipment. <br />• Excavates for sewer line repair using proper equipment. <br />• Excavates for water line and service line repair using proper equipment. <br />• Repair of catch basins/storm sewers. <br />• Operates heavy equipment related to a variety of City programs such as <br />patching, snow plowing, excavating, turf maintenance, and other tasks as <br />delegated in a safe proficient manner. <br />• Operates fight equipment including, but not limited to, trucks, mowers, tractors, <br />sprayers, paint stripe, chain saws, sweeper, hand tools, and other related <br />equipment in a safe and proficient manner. <br />• Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled functions such as carpentry, plumbing, <br />masonry, and other duties as apparent of assigned. <br />• Assesses situations or problems and determines workable solutions or methods <br />to resolve them with limited supervision. <br />• Makes recommendations to Public Works Supervisor ~^,-~,a~. on operating <br />matters of the department including personnel, equipment and work procedures <br />I~ <br />• <br />
