Mounds View City Council May 13, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 14 <br /> <br />school resource officer were discussed in detail as the safety of schools has become a growing <br />concern. The Towards Zero Deaths saturation events continue to have a great deal of traffic <br />stops, which increases roadway safety. He explained the K-9 officer continues to greatly benefit <br />the City’s Police Department. <br /> <br />Police Chief Kinney noted the changes in personnel within the department. He wished Bob <br />Nelson well in his retirement and welcomed the three new officers to the department. He <br />explained Officer Darrell Meyer received a life saving award from the City of New Brighton for <br />assisting in saving the life of a young women earlier this spring. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller asked how the City contributed to the new officers’ uniforms and <br />equipment. Police Chief Kinney commented the uniforms and utility belt equipment were City <br />issued. He indicated this includes their firearm and vest. He noted the vests were typically <br />replaced every five years through grants and State funds. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked Police Chief Kinney for his report this evening and commended the <br />department on their great work. <br /> <br />C.
