Mounds View City Council July 8, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn questioned where Max’s Bar was located. Ms. Cermak explained Max’s <br />Bar and Grill was located in Ham Lake and was selected due to the positive comments from their <br />work at Blaine’s Blazin’ Fourth Celebration. She would love to have had a Mounds View <br />establishment selected for the event, but no applications were made. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Approve the Consent Agenda as presented. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />9. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer answered the Council's questions related to claims. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Approve the Just and Correct Claims as <br />presented. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />10. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />11. REPORTS <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson reported residents were allowed to widen their driveway curb cut <br />through the street improvement project up to 24 feet. He noted the additional width was to be <br />paid by the resident. The residents were then allowed up to one year to improve their driveway <br />surface, or the additional width would be removed. He explained there were a number of <br />properties that have not followed through and requested the Council direct staff how to proceed. <br /> <br />Council Member Hull asked if the City has been in contact with these homeowners. City <br />Administrator Ericson indicated the City has sent letters to each property in violation and many <br />have requested extensions. However, several have not responded in any way. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller recommended the City assist these homeowners with their driveways <br />as it would be an additional expense to the City to have the additional curbs and aprons removed <br />and replaced. Public Works Director DeBar estimated the expense to be $300-350 per property. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty commented the additional length was an option and he wanted to see these <br />homeowners held accountable.
