August 12, 2013, City Council Meeting Minutes. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause requested a correction on Page 1, Line 39, the spelling of McGurt <br />should be changed to McGurk. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Approve the August 12, 2013, City Council <br />meeting minutes as amended. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />11. REPORTS <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn introduced Mike and Kathy Lee to the Council thanking them for taking <br />part in Festival in the Park, as Mr. Lee dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow. She also <br />congratulated the Lee’s for their blue ribbon prize winning pickles at the State Fair. Ms. Lee <br />presented the Council with a sample of peppered pickles for the Council to sample. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller commented she received a thank you note from the Ralph Reeder Food <br />Shelf thanking the City and its residents for the generous donation of $87 in cash, 35 pounds of <br />food and 31 pounds of school supplies after the Festival in the Park. She thanked the community <br />for supporting the food shelf. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller discussed a special photo of Betty Wall in the September 5th edition of <br />the Mounds View/New Brighton Sun Focus. She commented Betty Wall was an active volunteer <br />in the community and recently received the Spirit of the Community Award for her involvement <br />in getting Unity Hospital built. She congratulated Betty Wall on her efforts. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause noted this Wednesday the Mounds View Business Council would <br />be meeting at the Community Center at 7:30 a.m. He encouraged all to attend. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson discussed several upcoming meetings with the Council. He noted the <br />Mounds View fall cleanup would be held on September 28th from 9:00 a.m. to noon. In addition, <br />the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Silver View Park playground would take place on <br />September 28th at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson stated the YMCA Executive Committee met this morning and it was <br />noted revenues were up slightly this year. The vending machine snacks would be changed out to <br />become more heart healthy. He noted he met with Bethlehem Baptist representatives last week
