Mounds View City Council November 12, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause explained the Festival in the Park Committee would meet again on <br />Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. He encouraged those interested in serving the <br />community to attend. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn stated this Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. <br />the Ramsey County Family Childcare Association would be hosting the 4th Annual Holiday <br />Shopping Extravaganza at the Community Center in Mounds View. She indicated there would <br />be 25 vendors at the event. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mueller reported the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf was holding a preholiday food <br />drive tonight at Moe’s and tomorrow evening at the Mustang Tavern in Mounds View. She <br />encouraged residents to get involved to assist in providing food to those in need throughout the <br />holiday season. She stated additional information regarding the food drive would be available on <br />the City’s website. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br />1. Police Department Quarterly Report. <br /> <br />Police Chief Kinney reviewed the third quarter Police Department report with the Council. He <br />discussed the number of arrests and citations, noting the staff shortage led to a decrease in these <br />numbers. He explained medical assists were the top demand for the department’s resources. He <br />reported on the actions taken by the school resource officer. <br /> <br />Police Chief Kinney discussed the training provided to officers over the past quarter, along with <br />the events attended by the City’s K-9 unit. He was pleased to report Officer Erickson and Niko <br />received a PD1 certification at a recent statewide competition. He reviewed the recent personnel <br />changes within the department. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mueller discussed the police budget and commended Police Chief Kinney for not <br />going over budget given the recent staffing changes. Police Chief Kinney stated he would <br />continue to keep a close eye on the budget as staffing levels are brought back to their proper <br />levels. <br /> <br />C.
