Mounds View City Council May 12, 2014 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br /> <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn indicated there would be an Open House regarding the County Road 96/I- <br />35W interchange on Tuesday, May 20th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Marsden Room at the Ramsey <br />County Public Works Building in Arden Hills. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller congratulated Cub Scout Packs #267, # 167, and #367 for their <br />successful Scouting for Food Drive. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller noted the Mounds View Business Council would be meeting at 7:30 <br />a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Mounds View Community Center. The guest speaker <br />would be Bob Behnke. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller reported the Festival in the Park Committee would meet again on <br />Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. She encouraged those interested in assisting <br />with the festival to attend the meeting or contact City Hall for further information. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller commented she would be attending a League of Minnesota Cities <br />board meeting on Thursday, May 22, 2014. She noted the League of Minnesota Cities was <br />accepting applications for board members. Selections would be made at the annual LMC <br />conference. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller explained the Minnesota Women in City Government has received <br />nominations for the Outstanding Elected and Outstanding Appointed Woman Official of the <br />Year. These two award would be presented at the LMC Conference in June. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he was honored to attend the Ramsey County Law <br />Enforcement Memorial Ceremony with Police Chief Kinney on May 12th. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty indicated he attended the Five Cities Meeting with City Administrator on May <br />12th. The group discussed the Comcast cable franchise contract and PEG fees. He stated Barb <br />Haake from the Cable Commission would be attending an upcoming worksession meeting to <br />provide the Council with additional information regarding the franchise contract. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller discussed the Discover Aviation Days event that would be held at the <br />Blaine Airport on May 31st and June 1st. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson updated the Council on the Economic Development Specialist <br />position. He noted an offer was extended to the top candidate and the candidate declined the <br />position. This has led staff to further evaluate the position description and expectations. He <br />stated the position description may need an amendment. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson commented he would be attending a conference Wednesday through <br />Friday of this week, noting the EDC would be meeting on May 23rd.
