Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance 895, Code Amendment to Title <br />1100, Chapter 1116, for I-1, Industrial Zoning District Uses. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson explained the Planning Commission reviewed City Code regarding <br />the Industrial zoning district and was considering if pharmaceutical uses fit this zoning district. <br />He commented that the Planning Commission recommended a code amendment to allow for <br />pharmaceutical and medical supplies, while also allowing warehousing as a permitted use. He <br />recommended the Council approve the first reading and introduction of Ordinance 895. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To approve the First Reading and Introduction of <br />Ordinance 895, Code Amendment to Title 1100, Chapter 1116, for I-1, Industrial Zoning District <br />Uses. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />C. Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance 896, Code Amendment to Title <br />1100 for Renewable Energy Systems. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson stated the Planning Commission reviewed the City Code regarding <br />renewable energy systems. The Commission recommended several amendments to the Code <br />regarding solar and geothermal energy, removing wind systems. Staff requested the Council <br />approve the first reading and introduction Ordinance 896. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Waive the First Reading and Introduction <br />Ordinance 896, Code Amendment to Title 1100 for Renewable Energy Systems . <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />D. Resolution 8357, Approving the Hire of Police Officers Riley Solz and <br />Andrew Ronning. <br /> <br />Police Chief Kinney recommended the Council approve the hire of Police Officers Riley Solz <br />and Andrew Ronning. He reported the department was currently down two officers and needed <br />to return to full strength. He explained that the eligibility list created in September of 2014 was <br />used for this hiring process. He briefly discussed the new hiring process that was used for the <br />two candidates. He suggested the start date for the candidates be February 2, 2015. <br /> <br />Council Member Hull asked if either of the candidates had previous law enforcement experience. <br />Police Chief Kinney indicated Riley Solz was a licensed peace officer and was working for a <br />sheriff’s department. He noted that Andrew Ronning does not have any licensed experience as a <br />police officer, but has worked as a reserve officer in the west metro. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller questioned who would be training the two new officers. Police Chief <br />Kinney explained the department had two field training officers on each shift that would assist
