Mounds View City Council October 26, 2015 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported on Thursday, October 29, 2015 the drug prevention forum <br />would be held at the Mounds View High School from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause indicated on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Mounds View <br />Community Center there would be a family fun party for Halloween from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 <br />p.m. In addition, the Lion’s would be hosting a free waffle breakfast from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause commented he would be attending a YMCA advisory committee <br />meeting on Monday, November 2, 2015. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller stated the local economies draft policies was distributed to member <br />communities by the League of Minnesota Cities for review. Edits will be made in January before <br />the publication goes before the Legislature. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty explained he served on the Finance Committee for the North Suburban Cable <br />Commission and this group would be discussing the 2016 budget on Tuesday evening. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty provided further comment on the City’s 2015 tax burden as provided by the <br />North Metro Mayor’s Association. He was pleased to report that the City had the second lowest <br />tax burden when compared to neighboring communities. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer was pleased to report that cameras had been installed on Silver View Park <br />and on the water treatment plant for security purposes. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson indicated he attended a meeting last Thursday regarding the Met <br />Council North Area Interceptor Phase V project. Questions were answered by the project <br />manager and staff members present. He commented work on this project would begin soon as <br />the project completion date was August 31, 2016. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson explained staff continued to prepare for Area I and anticipated <br />that this item would be coming before the Council in the near future. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson commented the Silver View Park Trail easement discussions <br />continue. He reported that Dr. Levitan still had some concerns and both legal counsel’s would be <br />connecting to resolve these concerns. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn asked what was going on along County Road I. Public Works Director <br />Erickson reported that a portion of the sewer pipes were being relined. He apologized for the fact <br />that the contractor did not adhere to the City specified work hours. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson reported the City sent out a flyer in the recent utility bills regarding <br />an upcoming survey that addressed the topic of organized collection. Additional information <br />regarding this matter and the survey would be included in the next Mounds View Matters.
