MOUNDS VIEW ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 97-EDC18 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF A 16-SCREEN MOVIE <br />THEATER AND OFFICE BUILDINGS FOR SECTION 7 OF THE PROPOSED HIGHWAY <br />10 REDEVELOPMENT PLAN <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, per the Mounds View Municipal Code Chapter 408.09, section 1, <br />the Economic Development Commission (EDC) shall confer with and advise the <br />Authority on all matters concerning the industrial and commercial development and <br />redevelopment of the City, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, per the Mounds View Municipal Code Chapter 408.09, section 8, <br />the EDC shall recommend zoning changes and development of area suitable for industrial <br />and commercial development and redevelopment to the Planning Commission, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the EDC has reviewed the economic advantages and <br />disadvantages of locating a 16-Screen Movie Theater and three office buildings that is <br />proposed for the vacant land located in Section 7 of the Proposed Highway 10 <br />Redevelopment Plan, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the EDC finds that the proposed use would increase the <br />commercial tax base of the City by approximately $100,000; add new full time and part <br />time jobs and create a large multiplier effect by bringing new customers to the area, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the EDC views this development as beneficial to the overall <br />economic livelihood of the commercial businesses along Highway 10 and will improve <br />the character and vision of the corridor; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Economic Development <br />Commission hereby supports the development of a 16-screen movie theater and office <br />buildings for section 7 of the proposed highway 10 redevelopment plan. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Economic <br />Development Commission recommends to the Planning Commission the approval of a <br />zoning change for the project. <br /> <br />
