Minutes of the Economic Development Commission <br />City of Mounds View <br />Ramsey County, Minnesota <br />Regular Meeting <br />October 27, 1994 <br />City Hall <br />2401 Highway 10, Mounds View, MN 55112 <br />Call to Order: <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m. by Chairperson, Delane Welsch. Commissioner Goff <br />volunteered to take the minutes for the meeting. <br />Roll Call: <br />Members present were as follows: Rosemary Goff, Peg Mountin, Dan (Nelson, Delane Welsch, Mark <br />Malone, Ron Schmidt and Phil Seipp. In addition, Economic Development Coordinator Cathy Bennett <br />and EDA Liaison Gary Quick were present. <br />Approval Of Minutes: <br />Motion/Second: Unanimous Approval of Minutes of EDC Meeting, Sept. 22, <br />1994. <br />Motion Carried <br />4. Presentation Regarding Redevelopment of Highway 64 Corridor in Columbia <br />Heights <br />Don Schneider, Columbia Heights Housing Authority and Roger Jensen, Anoka <br />County Economic Development Partnership gave a history of the development of the <br />Columbia Heights tax increment district projects. Information was provided on <br />problems encountered, positive spin-off, relocation costs, loan programs and housing <br />projects. <br />B. Education Linkages with Local Schools <br />Jan Quick, a city resident and career placement specialist at Irondale High School <br />proposed that the Commission look at establishing linkages between Irondale students <br />and local businesses. She indicated that student graduates are seeking employment in <br />the general work force rather than going into higher education and that many need help <br />in obtaining entry level employment. Coordinator Bennett suggested that she work with <br />the Mounds View Business Association to see if they want to take on this project. Also, <br />Coordinator Bennett could provide job posting received at City Hall to the school. <br />Motion/Second: Mountin/Malone, to direct Coordinator Bennett to pursue a partnership <br />between the business community and Irondale High School. <br />7 ayes0 nays <br />
